Local games and analysis
GoReview is a Go game review and practice tool. Game records, KataGo models, analysis, language and sound preferences, and practice progress are stored on your device. KataGo runs locally. We do not upload your game library to a developer-operated server or provide cloud analysis. The app has no registration, sign-in, ads, in-app purchases, or embedded behavioral analytics/crash reporting service.
Optional network features
When you import a public Tencent Go or Fox Go share link, the app makes an HTTPS request to that service with the public chessid in the link. Optional KataGo model downloads and joseki updates connect to the model provider or GitHub. These providers receive the requested URL, IP address, request time, and necessary connection information, and may process access logs under their own policies. GoReview does not send advertising identifiers, contacts, or your local game library to them. You can use bundled models, bundled practice content, and local SGF files without initiating these optional features.
Files, sharing, and system services
The system file picker provides access to the SGF or model files you choose; broad photo-library access is not required. If you export or use system sharing, the selected file goes to the destination app or location you choose, under that destination's policies. Android and any device backup or migration service you enable may process app data according to your system settings; this is separate from developer-operated cloud sync.
Permissions and security
Internet access is used for the optional features above. A foreground service and wake lock continue local analysis that you initiate, including while you switch apps or turn the screen off. Resources are released when analysis completes, is cancelled, or the service stops. The app does not request location, contacts, camera, microphone, or advertising ID permissions. Network requests use HTTPS. Local files rely on the operating system's app-storage protections; this is not a promise of separate file encryption.
Children and parents
The app is intended for Go learners ages 6 and above, including teenagers and adults. We do not create child accounts, display ads, or require children to provide personal profiles. Parents should guide children when using public share links, external downloads, or system sharing. Parents can use the local deletion controls or contact us with privacy questions.
Retention, deletion, and choices
You can delete individual games in the library. Clearing the app's storage in Android settings removes its local games, analysis, models, preferences, and practice progress. Uninstall and backup behavior depend on system settings; also review any backup service you enabled. Exported or shared files must be deleted separately at their destination. We do not operate a game-account server or hold cloud copies of your library. If you contact us by email, we use the information you choose to provide to handle your request. Please avoid sending unnecessary personal information about children or real game records. You may request deletion of correspondence, except information we are legally required to retain.
This policy website
When you visit the policy website, hosting provider Cloudflare processes standard request information for page delivery and security. The policy page contains no ads or behavioral tracking scripts.
